The training course, delivered by the University of Oviedo, introduces the fundamentals of machine learning to professionals interested in incorporating artificial intelligence into their work.
The Asturias Digital Innovation Hub (AsDIH) continues to strengthen its commitment to developing digital talent through the delivery of the University Microcredential in Fundamentals of Supervised Machine Learning in Python, a course currently taking place at the Gijón Polytechnic School of Engineering and scheduled to conclude on July 15.
Organized in collaboration with the University of Oviedo, the initiative aims to provide a solid foundation in one of the core disciplines of artificial intelligence: supervised machine learning. Through a highly practical approach, participants acquire the skills needed to apply machine learning algorithms to solving real-world problems through data analysis and modeling.
Practical training focused on employability
The microcredential combines theoretical content with practical exercises that enable participants to become familiar with every stage of a machine learning project, from data preparation and visualization to the implementation and evaluation of predictive models using Python.
Throughout the sessions, participants work with tools widely used in professional environments and develop practical case studies related to classification, regression, neural networks, and model validation, acquiring skills that are increasingly in demand in the labor market.

The course is taught by Jorge Díez Peláez, Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Oviedo, and Pablo Pérez Núñez, Assistant Professor in the same department, both of whom have extensive teaching and research experience in machine learning, data mining, and artificial intelligence.
In addition to their academic work, the teaching team has participated in previous training initiatives developed within the framework of AsDIH for companies and professionals, helping bring expertise in advanced technologies closer to the regional productive sector.
