On February 18, we celebrated the first Review Meeting of the Asturias Digital Innovation Hub — AsDIH project at the AS5–HUB building in Gijón.
The aim of the meeting was to review the achievements so far in this European project, as well as to explain the actions that we will implement to achieve the objectives set for this year, the last of the current call.
The meeting was attended by the Project Officer of the European Commission, Eoghan O’Neill, accompanied by a panel of experts formed by Manuel Lai, from Centro Ricerche Fiat and Co-Founder and CEO of IRIS S.r.l, Meritxell Gimeno, CEO of DRACO SYSTEMS, and Sophie Stern, from DATAI consulting. In addition, we had the assistance of Alba Fuentes Lozano, Head of Service at the General Subdirectorate of Entrepreneurship and SMEs of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism.
During the day, some of AsDIH’s partners presented the activities they have developed so far in terms of providing services to SMEs in the framework of the Program to Support Digital Innovation Hubs (PADIH):
- Governance, operations, and project management (AsDIH)
- Test before invest and training activities (UniOvi, CTIC and ASINCAR)
- Support to find investment and funding and networking activities (Agencia Sekuens, CEEI Asturias and Cluster TIC Asturias)
- Dissemination and communication actions (Sekuens Agency)
- Financial statements (Sekuens Agency)
Success stories of SMEs in Asturias in digital transformation
We learned about the success stories of two SMEs in the region that have accessed some of these services through AsDIH:
- Edimar achieved an increase in its client portfolio thanks to the application of advanced sensors in its production processes.
- Integral Thermal Shield eliminated human error and saved time by using advanced technologies for inventory control.
And we reviewed the training schedule that will be developed by AsDIH partners during this year. These trainings will be very focused on artificial intelligence, since this will be the central axis of the next call of the European Digital Innovation Centers network, which will open next April.
The day ended with a visit to the installations of our partner CTIC Technology Center.
